Collections

The Library of the New England Electric Railway Historical Society is located at the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, Maine. The collection contains many photographs, postcards, articles, magazines, books, as well as many artifacts of the streetcar era. The items in the collection have come from individuals who have donated their own personal collections as well as items the Society has acquired.  Some collections are available for viewing online.

Type 3 Streetcar Blueprint

This collection contains  ~600 blueprints and technical drawings from the West End Street Railway and the Boston Elevated Railway, spanning from 1891 to 1954.

The O.R. Cummings Negative Collection

This negative collections primarily covers the State of Maine, but includes other U.S. cities and some international lines.  Data includes company, city and state, car builder, number and type, with descriptions and remarks.



The O.R. Cummings Maine Electric Railways Collection

A collection of 48 albums of images, documenting every electric railway that ran in the state of Maine.  No actual photos yet, but the data includes the company,descriptions, and dates for each image.
